How does a desktop computer compare to a laptop computer?

If you're storing a lot of big files, (i.e. Videos, pictures) that take up a lot of memory, and granted that mobility isn't an issue, then you would definatly wants a desktop. They're much cheaper because they're not trying to cram so much into such a small space. Not to mention that keyboards, mouses, screens, speakers, and other various accessories for your PC can be available without having to set up your workstation. (Not to say that a notebook can't be used in desktop configuration.)

Desktop computers have many advantages over laptops! They are often less expensive for the same specs, they are more easily upgraded, and faulty parts like the keyboard, mouse, or monitor are more easily replaced.

A desktop computer typically has more memory installed in it than that of a laptop. A laptop is portable and can be moved around easily whereas a desktop computer takes up more space and typically cannot be moved easily.

More space for improved components. Usually desktop models will have faster processor speeds, more data storage, and more space to increase Ram or upgrade components. Often the base price is lower also.

If you are a gamer or video person - who uses multiple browsers and programs at once, a lap-top may not keep you happy for long. They are still great except for portable use...but a tablet may be fine for that, less expensive, and easier to carry.

It's more than you asked for - but usually screen size and greater enjoyment of TV and online media can be had with a good home PC. Sound can be greatly improved for all these with addition of inexpensive Speakers.
