It depends on the size of the movie files, the resolution, and the type of compression used. So that can be between 3 (for maybe Blue-ray quality) and 15 for typical movies (680 to 700 Mb) as downloaded from the internet. If the movies are low quality or shorter than typical size, you might be able to fit more on there.

iTunes movies are stored in the same parent folder as the music. You can do a search for large files in the parent folder to track down your movies. Remember movies are huge in size and your songs are small.
There is no "best place" to put movies so they take up space. 1mb, 500mb,1gb, or even 10gb of video is the same no matter which folder you put it in.
