You can only change the desktop items if they are in folder form (you have to have created a folder yourself ). You can do this by right clicking on the desktop > then new > then folder. Once you have your folder and have given it a name. Right click the folder and select properties > then you should see a customize tab > then towards the bottom of that window should be a section called "folder icons" in that box should be "change icon" click that and you can select an icon of your choice.

I don't understand--why would you want to change the application icon? It is just an icon of a folder labeled "Applications." What are you trying to do? If you want to replace icons for individual applications rather than the icon for the Applications folder and you are using a set of icons with an .icns extension you can right click on the application's icon, select Show Package Contents from the menu, and open the Resources folder. In the Resources folder is the original applicationName.icns file. Move this original file somewhere safe (or better still make a copy of the application to experiment with) and then put your icon set in the Resources folder and rename it to whatever the original icon set was called. The application will then use your new icons.

It is not, there is a bug if you select multiple folders and try to change the icon. Setting desktop.ini in any crafty way will not work, and resetting the icon cache will reset all your icons rather than correctly update them to reflect desktop.ini (which specifies the icon of the folder). If you have to replace multiple icons, do not bother.

How do you install hedgewars for Mac?
Assuming you have downloaded the precompiled package for an Intel Mac running Mac OS X. You will have a disc image file (.dmg). Double click the .dmg file icon which will open up a window with a Hedgewars icon and an icon for a shortcut to your Applications folder. Drag the hedgewars icon into the Applications folder icon in the window and Hedgewars will be copied to your Applications folder. You can then eject the .dmg disk icon. Play the game by double clicking the Hedgewars icon in the Applications folder.
