channels are the "colour plates" that make up the picture they are basically layered to create colours and shades - when you look at the channels you can adjust each colour independently of all others

Layers are basically link creating a transparent film over the original picture and then working on each layer i.e. like having clear film with parts of a picture on each , when place one on top f each other they create a full picture

How do atmospheric layers differ?

The five layers of the atmosphere have different atmospheric temperature that occurs with increasing altitude. The layers also thin out with height from the surface.

How do transport proteins that are pumps differ from that are channels?

Transport proteins that are pumps differ from those that are channels in that when it pumps, it moves materials against concentration gradient. Other wise, from low to high concentration levels. Channels move materials down a concentration gradient, requiring no energy expenditure by the cell. From high concentration to low concentration levels.

How do ligand-gated channels differ from voltage-gated channels in terms of their mechanisms of activation and regulation?

Ligand-gated channels are activated by binding of specific molecules (ligands) to the channel, while voltage-gated channels are activated by changes in the electrical potential across the cell membrane. Ligand-gated channels are regulated by the presence of ligands, while voltage-gated channels are regulated by changes in membrane potential.

How do voltage-gated channels differ from ligand-gated channels in terms of their mechanisms of activation and regulation?

Voltage-gated channels are activated by changes in membrane potential, while ligand-gated channels are activated by binding of specific molecules (ligands). Voltage-gated channels open in response to changes in electrical charge across the membrane, whereas ligand-gated channels open when a specific ligand binds to the channel. Additionally, voltage-gated channels are regulated by changes in membrane potential, while ligand-gated channels are regulated by the presence or absence of specific ligands.
