As we speak, I am attempting to create a New Virtual Machine using Windows Virtual PC within the Windows 7 Environment. I will detail my success, if indeed I am successful. My plan is to install Windows 95 on a Virtual Machine and run older programs. At the moment, I am desperately wanting to play Myst Masterpiece Edition. I found it, mint condition, at a local thrift store for $2. If this succeeds, I will pass on the information because I know there are a ton of people who want to know how to do something like this.

Who can convert your windows software to mac software?

You can't do this, software written for windows will not work on a Mac unless you load a windows emulator on the Mac first and even then it may not work well. For software to work on the two architectures, you need to compile it for them and only the vendors can do this.

Usually is an file that has the icon of the software * Right-click on the file and select properties (should be the last option) * Enter the Compatibility tab * Check the box "Run thin program in compatibility mode for:" * Select the Operating system you want your program to run in compatibility with (in you case that would be Windows 95) * Click "Apply" and then "OK" * Run the software again This should fix the compatibility problem for most programs.

How do you use an emulator on Windows and do you need a special program other then the emulator?

No - the emulator should run without additional software. For example - last year, I was using a Sinclair Spectrum emulator in order to write a couple of programs to run on the Spectrum computers. All I needed to do was download the emulator - and run it as and when required from my desktop.

Why compatibility standards needed?

It is needed to verify that the windows version you are installing supports the hardware and applications you will. There are two basic sources for this information Microsoft and the manufacturer of the device of software. If you are installing windows XP, the setup wizard automatically checks your hardware and software and reports any potential conflict. The Windows Marketplace Web site: www.windowsmarketplace.com , formerly known as the hardware compatibility list is very useful to check compatibility.
