Isn't Windows 2000 the same as Windows XP?

According to Microsoft, Windows Server 2003 is more scalable and delivers better performance than its predecessor, Windows 2000.[2]

No, they're substantially different. They're both NT-based. and many programs written for XP will run more or less fine in 7 also, but they're not at all "the same."
