To set the default browser on a Mac use the browser's Preferences:
Any available browser can be set as the default in the General section of Safari's Preferences. The "Default web browser" drop down menu will list all available browsers on the Mac so you can select which you want to use as the default.
In the Advanced section of the Firefox Preferences tick the "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup" box
In the Basics section of the Chrome Preferences click on the "Make Google Chrome my default browser" button.

Run IE9 , open internet settings then click on programs after that you will see default web browser click on make default to make Internet Explorer your default browser

The default web browser on a Mac is Safari. The shortcut is located on the Dock. If for some reason it is not there you can find it in Applications.
The 'speed' of your browser can depend on the speed of your internet connection. However, Safari is probably the best since Safari was made for the Mac.
