A "LAN" ... which stands for "Local Area Network". If the network is formed by a Bluetooth wireless network, it's commonly called a "PAN", or "Personal Area Network". This refers to the short distance generally between your Bluetooth devices, which may include computers, headsets, mobile phones etc.
The idea of a massive network of computers was first introduced by computer researcher J.C.R. Licklider at MIT in 1962. He envisioned a "Galactic Network" of interconnected computers that would allow for the easy sharing of information and resources. This concept laid the groundwork for the development of the internet as we know it today.
