Well that depends... the term computer is not limited to the device that I am using to make this post. Here is the Wikipedia definition of computer:

A computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions So with this in mind, a human becomes a computer, amongst other things not actively referred to as computers.

Now if you are asking in the context of a Personal Computer, (PC), then things basic requirements are different. For a modern computer to even function properly it requires much more than just two parts. Modern computers are a collaboration of different types of hardware, all working together to achieve a common goal.

Here are the minimalist part requirements for a modern PC that would run an OS like Microsoft Windows:

* Processor - This is the computational unit, the "brain"

* RAM - This is the systems memory, where it stores information temporarily

* Hard Drive - This is where information is stored permanently, beyond the machine losing power

* Motherboard - This is the main board, containing all the different integrated circuits required for the other components to interact with each other.
