There are many things you should do for preventive maintanance.

See computer maintanance can help save hundreds of dollars every year by just doing simple little things.

1. Defrag your hard drive... Yup there are freebie software on the internet that can do it with a click of a button and pretty much what a defrag does its re-arrange your files in order and puts them in the correct place this makes the hard drive work less and last longer thus prevents any hard drive issues.

2. Clean the dust silent killer.... Heat and Dust are the sworn enemy of a computer.

The dust accumilates and clogs the fans and heat sinks in turn the computer parts start getting real hot to a poin that the motherboard or cpu or even the PSU may fry.

By simple opening up the computer and clean it all the way trough you can eliminate the heat and thus prevent your computer from destroying itself early.

3. Thermal Paste.... The thermal past seats between the heat sink and the CPU acts like a conductor of heat and transfers it to the heat sink the CPU is constantly getting electricity and in turns creates heat well that heat needs to go somewhere or else the CPU will fry... By simply re pasting some thermal paste removing the old paste and adding new one it can help your CPU last longer.

4.Spyware/adware/..... DOing a virus scanner once a week can prevent major problems in regards to virus affecting a computer system. YOu dont have to spend alot of money buying virus removing software to catch them all. In reality there are many free virus scanners like malwarebytes or superantispyware or search and destroy that are free and can get the job done.

5.Updates.... Update once a month or at least check once a month for updates to make sure your computer its up to date.

Dont be afraid to ask for help or look for help there are many free websites that we quite awesome. Beign a computer tech doesnt mean you will have all th eanswers to every problem you will run into a problem you dont have the fix to by searching online for the problem your having its most likely someone already had it and has a fix to it one website that can really help and i think most techs should join is Bleeping computer real experts that help for free just dont forget to donate ;)
