Even if we leave smart industrial robots to scientists and X-ray image interpretation to doctor, still there are tons of CV implementations we benefit from in real life. Just recall Google Similar Images feature or iPhone apps that recognises road signs and warn "Hey, slow down, the speed limit for this road is 60mph"
