What are the applications of computers in different fields?

Well one application is to prevent death by boredom in many fields of desk jobs. Access to the internet allows many people to survive their workdays throughonline games. A personal favorite of mine is Cyber which allows a player to compete against over a quarter million other live human beings. Each player runs their own nation and makes critical policy and trade decisions, running their country in a realistic environment that provides hours of enjoyment. Alliances and military conflicts add interest as well, creating a global competition and an ever-changing environment. Computers can also perform complex calculations much faster and with more accuracy than a normal human being. Their programmable nature enables them to run repetitive tasks while freeing humans for more complex and reactive tasks. They can serve as an important communications device, as well as allowing access to a large store of information, the Internet. E-mail and web access increases efficiceny of work for many businesses.
