Invalid IP address - have you got an exact error message..??
This could be a number of things, though most likely your DHCP is only leasing ip addresses for a set time and for whatever reason your laptop isn't renewing it. I saw a similar problem caused by a badly configured firewall.
My advice would be to give yourself a static ip address. This should solve your problem.
You need to check log files while logged in to your access point.
Make sure that you are using a correct ip address. IP address for your router you can find in network properties of your network adapter when you are connected to the wireless network.
You need to choose in the wireless connection properties "get ip address automatically from DHCP server" or something like that.
A Wireless Area Network profile tells other computers and peripherals what hardware you are, what your network address is and how secure you want your connection is.
Yes, if you are sending email. Email contains IP information in the hidden headers.
First, don't install the software that comes with the router. This is very important. Simply power up the wireless router. Once powered up, search for the default name for the router in the list of wireless connections. For Linksys, the network is named Linksys by default. You can change this later. Once connected to the router, you will be assigned an IP address. From the cmd window (Windows->Run->CMD), enter ipconfig. You should see the IP address as 192.168.1.101 (at least this is what Linksys starts with. The gateway listed below is the address for your wireless router. To connect to the wireless router, you can now enter the "gateway" address as described above into a browser window. Keep in mind that if you change the name of the wireless network name, it will disconnect your laptop from the network. This is ok. Just find the new name in the available networks and reconnect. Other laptops can connect too. They will be assigned a new IP address after they connect. For some reason, tech support for Linksys believed that an Internet connection was needed for their wireless router. They are clueless. Follow these instructions and you'll have your wireless LAN up and running in no time.
For a wireless connection to be successful, its client and access point must meet in three settings. Th settings are: SSID, authentication (MD5 checksum and antennae type), and the encryption key (MAC address filters).
You probably want to use MAC address filtering plus WPA encryption on your wireless access point.
It means, that your laptop does not get an IP address, usually such things happen when, routers have some security politics configured or your wireless adapter is not compatible with that particular router.
Hard to explain but heres an example of one: 192.168.65.12 It is the same one as your wireless network except the last number will be added up one. Lets say you have 191 at the end on your laptop then on the ps3 it will be 192
well for mine it is 192.168.1.1. I also bought a Dlink Wireless access point which i plugged in to the third ethernet port. This had a access point of 192.168.0.50 however it has to be wired to you computer to access thre admin panel.
There are many ways in which one can find a Wireless Store's address. This includes looking in the Yellow Pages, calling the store in question or going to the Wireless Store website.
