Think of a folder as a storage container, in it you can store other storage containers and stuff in general. To make a folder right click with the mouse and select the option 'New' then another dialogue window will come up and you can select the 'Folder' option. Your folder will appear with the text 'New Folder' right click it and select 'Rename' to rename it to something else. To add files to your storage container (folder) drag the icon of the file onto it, or the open folder window and it will appear in your newly created folder.
