Bridge is a program used to store and sort your pictures. It creates an easier path to drag pictures and save pictures to different programs, such as photoshop, catalyst, lightroom, etc...
It doesn't do anything as far as editing goes, but it makes it very easy to sort pictures.

You mean contact sheet or what? contact sheet you can make inside Photoshop and then print it or save as Photoshop PDF. Contact sheet you can also make from Bridge just go to OUTPUT panel. Another thing you can do is to stack images from Bridge and then zip them for emailing.

Metadata for images can be found by opening Adobe Bridge from within Photoshop. Open Adobe Bridge by using the "Bridge" button to the left of the default "Brushes" palette near the top menu; the "brushes" palette can be found on the right side (PS CS 2 was referenced, in newer versions the locations for items may have changed).
