Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable is a type of networking cable commonly used in Local Area Networks (LANs) for data transmission. It consists of pairs of insulated copper wires twisted together to reduce electromagnetic interference and crosstalk. UTP cables are categorized based on their performance, with Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a being popular choices for supporting high-speed internet and network connections. Their simplicity and cost-effectiveness make them a standard choice for wired networking in homes and businesses.
It depends on the type of LAN; the most common cable in a LAN is UTP cable. In older LAN types you could also use coaxial copper cable. For UTP cable that would be Cat 5, cat 5E or above for most LANs.
UTP or unshielded twisted pair
it is not UPT ,it is UTP which stands Unshielded Twisted Pair. The UTP is mainly used for network cabling i.e; LAN cabling.
For LANs the most common media is UTP cable.
there is lan tester available in the market, we have to connect one side of the crimped cable to one of the part of lan tester and the other side crimped cable had to be enter the other part of the lan tester... then we have to on the lan tester and we are able to visible LED's blinking one after the other , if not ther is a problem in crimping the cable..
Mainly in LAN we can use 4 types of cables: 1) STP - Shielded Twisted Pair 2) UTP- Unshielded Twisted Pair UTP have 2 types 1 is Straight Cable 2 is Cross Cable 3) Coaxial Cable 4) Fiber Optic Cable
The maximum distance a utp cable can handle is 100 m. If you need to bridge over 200 meter and you can only utp cable, you will need to put in enough hubs or switches so that the length of utp cable is never more than 100 m. You can forego of the utp cable and make use of COAX cable. A good quality cable will transmit signals over around 300 m. distance. You can forego of the utp cable and make use of fiber optic cable. Then you can transmit signals over a 40 km distance. Wireless Microwave and WiMax would be an option to cover the distance using radio waves.
Most UTP cable is limited to 100 meters.
Actually, a UTP cable doesn`t have any shielding. UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair.
Typically a straight thru UTP cable can be used.
it is a point where a UTP cable connects to the device
A server is not necessary to create a LAN. You can connect all of the devices using UTP cable and a switch or router (a hub would work too, but they are slower devices).
