There is no password to access the registry on Windows Vista.
Honestly used CCleaner back in the Vista days and it helped clean junk/registry without frying the system, just be very careful with what it deletes. Nowadays I’d avoid registry cleaners if you’re not fixing a specific problem. Always backup before you touch the registry.

To run a backup in Windows Vista the must do the following:1) Press "Start" logo2) Then search "Backup"3) Open the program called "Backup and Restore Cente"4) You then just press Back up files and follow the instructions! Hope this helps!
You can search for the registry. When you see it, right click on it and run as an administrator. After doing this, you should be able to make changes.
