The vast majority of Startup programs found in msconfig are unnecessary and from third parties, and many of these may be spyware. In Windows XP, ctfmon is the only necessary Startup item. Depending on what hardware and software you use, you may want to leave other specific software disabled. Different antivirus and internet security software have different names and should be left enabled. Check the location of files to know which of these are your Internet security software. Other things may be required for some hardware, e.g., the HP keyboard's shortcut features need an enabled item. Usually, if you don't know what the item is, or if it is Adobe, RealPlayer's message checker, Java, or anything else it is okay to disable it. For some software, like the Picasa media detector, or Skype, you can decide whether are not you want it enabled; they are not needed and they take up RAM when running, though you may want their convenience as Startup items. You can disable these items, too, and drag any programs that you do want to start at Startup into a special folder in the start menu.
I recommend that you get some tech support to ask about each individual item to ensure it is not software that you want enabled.
Start/Run/ "msconfig" go to Startup Tab. check off TpScrLk + tp4ex +tpkmapap. make sure they are checked to run as startup. hit OK, then restart.
If you use 1-Click (Answers), you might find, as I did, that if it's in your list of Startups you will probably need to 'exit' it (in the taskbar) *first, before you will be able to have the 'Turn Off Computer' take effect. [(Start/ Run/type 'msconfig' and enter/ Startup (tab)/ Startup Items (checked boxes)]
In XP...Start,run, type in MSCONFIG...hit ok...look for the startup tab and uncheck anything you don't want at startup - Click apply then ok. Then Restart ...when the computer starts back up you will see a box stating that you are running windows in selective startup. check the box that says "do not show this notice again" then hit ok. that's it ! If you are uncertain which devices to disable at startup, you can either leave them checked or do an internet search on the item and the intenet will have information on what the process is.
That indicates that your air bag system is not functioning correctly get it checked out
What do you mean?If your mac is loading slow on startup, it is most likelyto do with its SSD; so I'd recommend getting that checked out, or clearing up some space :)
Yes, however start-ups are checked out cautiously because of the extra risks they present in comparison with established companies.
Yes I just found something by accident. My computer has been slow for quite a while. This evening "google installer" kept trying to access the internet causing my pages not to open and stall. (Not Responding). Each time Google Installer tried to access the internet, my "Defender Pro" asked me and I clicked to block access. It kept trying over and over leaving me unable to use the computer, online. I went to start, run, msconfig, and startup, scrolled down and un-checked the google installer box, applied and did a restart. It began again when I went back on line. I checked and the box had be re- checked. I uninstalled the Google tool bar, and now my computer is fast as it was when new.

No. I've checked Cleverbot and it has no viruses. Just to be sure check it with a antivirus or other programs.
Checked exceptions should be caught. Otherwise, compile errors are generated.
Click on the Start menu click "Run" in the box type "msconfig" and hit enter A grey box will appear called "system configuration utility. Check the "Selective Start up" at the bottom. Next, click the far right tab at the top that says "Start up" You will see a list of programs with boxes checked. Those are all the programs that start with your computer. Unchek the ones you don't want to run...(Be carefull though, DON"T UNCHECK THE ONES YOU DON"T UNDERSTAND, BECAUSE YOU MIGHT NEED THEM TO RUN) After you uncheck the unwanted programs, click "OK" and restart you computer. Hope this helps
