On a 1997 Mazda 626 with a 2.5-liter V6 engine, the camshaft position sensor is located near the rear of the engine, on the driver's side. It is typically mounted on the cylinder head or the timing cover, and may be somewhat difficult to access due to surrounding components. For precise location, it's advisable to refer to a service manual or repair guide specific to the vehicle.
