Ram Bahadur Bomjon is a popular Nepalese religious leader born in 1990, who had achieved a celebrity status due to his motionless meditation performance, allegedly "without food", ten months from 2005, as well as for well-documented controversies of violence, witch-accusations and kidnappings. Previously known as Palden Dorje, Buddha Boy, Tapasvi, currently he is known by different names: Maitriya Guru, Maha Sambodhi, Dharma Sangha. He currently claims to be God's direct incarnation on earth, higher than Gautama Buddha, as well as the awaited Maitreya Buddha. He has hundreds of thousands of Nepalese and some hundreds of Western followers. His official organization is called Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha (BSDS) with registered branches in the USA, Canada and Japan. A new religion founded by Ram Bomjon is called Maitri Dharma and is set out to conquer the world.

Yes, according to his own words to media (The Telegraph, Thomas Bell: "Buddha Boy found after retreating into jungle", Oct 26, 2005) he used to eat "herbs" (Saag, Nepali wild vegetables) during his "meditation in the jungle". According to an article (Andrew Buncombe, Nov. 11, 2008 in The Independent, "Buddha Boy reappears after year in jungle") locals had spotted him eating during the time he was allegedly sitting in meditation. His long-time supporter Jas Bahadur Waiba told many visitors that Ram Bomjon did eat, although much more irregulalry and possibly less than most people. He used to eat in hidden.
Buddha Boy, also known as Ram Bahadur Bomjon, gained attention in the mid-2000s for reportedly meditating for extended periods without food or water. As of my last update in October 2023, he has been known to continue his spiritual practices, though his activities have garnered mixed reactions. His followers believe he embodies spiritual enlightenment, while skeptics question the authenticity of his claims. For the most current information, it's advisable to check recent news sources.
