Having a computer is not necessary, but a matter of opinion, although having a computer has many benefits.

Some of the benefits of having a computer:

Having a computer usually means that you are able to search online for questions, things to buy, and information on a wide variety of topics. Having access to these things can help you a lot, with research and other needs that you might use it for.

Having a computer will allow you to 'connect' to the rest of the world through social networking sites, which is ideal for you if you have friends overseas or people who you would like to keep in touch with that you don't see very often.

Having a computer means that you will access to your own email account. When signing up for most things these days, you constantly need an email address, whether it is to join a website, receive newsletter updates, or need to fill in forms for something. Having an email account also means that you will be able to email work, friends, and family whenever you need to.

Having a computer also means that you can do assignments, documents for work, or just write stories on a word or other application document. Having your own computer will mean that things that you can do your office work from home, which can be very convenient, especially for mums or people who are very busy.

These are just some of the benefits of having a computer, but this isn't necessary, just up to you!

Computers and how they are used in this day and age, integration and through industry, design, and programming, is a delicate and yet powerful way to keep track of information, sharing information, network via communications throughout the world is vastly becoming a tool that is invaluable to any one that is equipped with a computer built with (using todays standard of equipment configuration) and having basic software programs installed. Makes this unit of receiving, and sending via the internet a very useful tool in our lives. It is capable of composing documents, (such as an office document, and various office templates, and applications) making a novice, or to the person using this tool very refined and professional in appearance, does and has multi-tasking, graphic, and a most capable platforms of powerful suites (tools) that covers much of the tasks that would take many days if not weeks or months of manual input, completed in minutes. Of course accuracy being part of the operators responsibility, but intrinsically very accurate and very able . Computers used with integrity and responsible attributes will shine very favorably when used to help others such as this platform. This is but a tidbit of what computers mean to us in this day and age.

A computer is not "necessary for life". You can live without a computer, cellphone, iPad, television, etc. However, a person cannot live without food, water, warmth during cold temperatures, and a way to keep cooled down during hot temperatures. Other than those, people need people. But otherwise... nothing is necessary or essential for anyone's life. And, there are millions of adults and children living and working in various countries who have never seen a computer! True! Their biggest concern is growing enough food to feed themselves and their families, and having enough clean drinking water. A computer being "necessary for our lives!"-- heck no!
