Why does windows updates take so long to update?

Three basic reasons:

1. The update uses large files and simply take a long time to down load
2. The computer is rearranging how it deals with information, this takes time
3. Microsoft is careful to do updates in a way they will not loose your data or mess up how your system works. This means the software does a lot of saving and backup during the process.

It will only take long if the following factors are in play: Slow internet connection, numerous updates to be updated, downloaded and installed and large file updates. If you keep your computer up to date and update it often, at least once per fortnight checking for updates you then should have less hassle and waiting time plus you have the added bonus of ensuring that your computer is always up to date and the operating software security bugs are always fixed, keeping unwanted visitors away from your computer. >/br>

There could be a few reasons:

A: You could have auto updates turned off. (Go into control pannel then security then updates and make sure they are turned on)

B: Your putting computer in standby or hibernation which will not install updates you have to shut it down.

C: If you have not already try clicking the shield icon at the bottom left it will either be red or yellow or not be there and manually install them.
