No. They are separate applications. Word comes as standard in versions of Office, and you may also get Publisher, so Word will always be there. You might just use Publisher all of the time and not Word. That is your decision and may depend on what you are doing. Publisher is a desktop publishing application and Word is a word processor, so they are used for different things.

Microsoft Word is a full-featured word processor. Wordpad is much more limited in what it can do compared to Microsoft Word. For very simple documents you could use Wordpad. It has basic formatting such as fonts and colours and sizes. It does not have facilities like spell checkers or mail merge. It is better than a text editor, but not as good as a full word processor. It comes as part of Windows, whereas you have to buy Microsoft Word, which is part of Microsoft Office. Microsoft costs, because you can do so much with it, so it is much better to use as a wordprocessor than Wordpad.
Excel is not generally used for creating memos, but you could use it to do so. You are more likely to use a word processor, like Microsoft Word.
Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents can be linked to each other, so that changes in one document will show up in the other. So it is possible to enter data in Microsoft Word and have it appear in Microsoft Excel. It is also possible to do formulas in tables in Microsoft Word, without linking to Microsoft Excel.
