It is a good idea to write protect on a floppy disk because it is a back to make sure the disk doesn't get overwritten. A disk can also be write protected by pushing a small tab on top of the disk to reveal a hole.
The best way to clean a floppy disk is with an electromagnet not a regular magnet. If you can put it to the back of a large speaker when the speaker is turned on, that should work. On the other hand, if you wait about 10 years, that will also do it.
Create a forgotten password floppy disk. If no floppy is available then save it to a notepad file on your personal network folder. It is also a great idea to write it all down in a planner.
If you have a floppy or Cd drive, remove any Cd or floppy and restart. Or else your OS crashed, that's all. You'll need a complete reinstall. :)
Back when the iMac first came out, I believe the i stood for Internet. The iMac was the first computer without a floppy disk drive. The idea was that with the Internet and email becoming so popular, more and more people were emailing files to each other, rather than saving them to a floppy disk. This part is a guess, but I think the letter i became popular enough, that they decided to use it with the ipod, iphone, and now the icloud.
Dont discount the idea that your disks may be bad. Floppy disks have been around a long time and disks which are more than a couple years old may no longer be readable. To test this theory, get some new floppies & format them with the new drive. Put some data on there & see if you can retrieve it. If this doesnt work, then yes, you probably have a bad floppy drive (or drives). Note, it is an easy mistake to make to put the ribbon cable on backwards. If the light on the drive comes on & stays on even when there is no disk, that is a sure sign that the ribbon cable is on backwards.
someone thought of an easier way to get music
The strength of a magnet can be affected by temperature. In cold temperatures, a magnet's strength increases, while in hot temperatures, the strength decreases. This is because temperature affects the alignment of atoms within the magnet, which in turn affects the magnet's ability to produce a magnetic field. An important idea to note is that extreme temperatures can demagnetize a magnet altogether.
You can create a bootable MS-DOS floppy disk, and put on it the utility which is called format.com. After that you boot your PC up from the floppy disk and use format.com to format the partion where windows xp is installed. Before you start you have to make sure that you have a windows xp installtion CD and a serial number for the windows xp. After you have formatted the partion boot up your PC from the installation CD and follow instructions. Better Idea - If Windows XP was installed with NTSF formatting, this idea won't work. You should do "fdisk" from a bootable floppy before you install Win98. This way the installation will properly format the disk for your new installation. Why don't you go back to Windows 2000 instead of 98?? It crashes a lot less often and will run fine on the old cpi. You will still need 128mb memory for either one to run decent.
Pretty much any electronics with wires. The metal inside the wires and generally attracted to the magnet. For example, it is a TERRIBLE idea to put a magnet next to or on a computer or computer monitor. It will distort anything and everything inside the computer.
pls tell some idea to take backup of virus infeced hard disk
You are probably talking about an electro magnet. For detailed explanations and some good drawings see the link on electromagnets here:
