Having two computers on a WiFi network can be extremely useful if you need to transfer or share files between the two. With most WiFi network, files transfer at lightning speed, and devices such as USB thumb drives are not necessary in the least.
Logging Both Computers onto the Network
Of course, before beginning this process, both computers must be logged onto the network. It’s important to make sure of this because this can later present problems if for some reason there is one computer that isn’t. It can be a stressful and irritating situation to try to figure out why something in this process is not working if there is one computer that’s not even logged into the network. So to be sure, confirm that they are both connected.
Turning on File and Printer Sharing
To enable this feature, it can usually be found within the Control Panel. The Control Panel can be accessed by clicking the Start button and then “Control Panel.” Both users will have to navigate to the Network settings and enable File and Printer Sharing.
Placing Files to Share in the Shared Folders
Sometimes, people don’t understand that only files that are located in the shared folders can be shared. This means that person A cannot navigate to person B’s files that are located in other places besides the shared folders. Windows has already created folders specifically for this reason. Additionally, users can set custom folders to temporarily share their contents. For example if you’ve got a folder in your “My Pictures” folder that you’d like the other person to see or download, you can right-click the folder and navigate to “Properties”. After seeing the window prompt, you can click the Sharing tab and enable that folder to share its contents.
Don’t Forget to Power Sharing off after You’re Done
If you’re somebody that likes to log onto public WiFi networks with your laptop, it would probably be a good idea to remember to disable sharing. If you fail to do so, you could be potentially sharing confidential files, and anybody on the network can see them and download them. Use the sharing feature carefully so that this doesn’t happen.
network attached storage for file sharing between computers
To set up a simple network, buy a router (wired or wireless). Connect the various computers you wish to be in the network to the router. You may also wish to turn on various services on the computers like file and printer sharing.
file-sharing
"File-sharing" is a platform-independent concept, that of sharing files between computers. If you are referring to the service / file system that allows other computers on the same network to access files on the local computer, this is usually done with NFS (Network File System). For compatibility with Windows, it is also possible to use Samba.

Go to connect to, open Network andSharing Center, Switch file sharing on or off and check on all files and folders that are being shared as well as network folders on the computer.
If the two computers are on the same network, make sure the driver is installed on both computers (you can usually download it from the manufacturers website). connect it to one of the two and make sure that computer has printer sharing turned ON. Go on the other computer and go into network devices/printers, or go into Microsoft word and go file>print>find printer.
The window used to configure network discovery and file sharing settings is called "Network and Sharing Center." You can access it through the Control Panel or by right-clicking the network icon in the system tray. Within this window, you can enable or disable network discovery, file sharing, and manage your network settings.
To connect a computer to other computers (i.e. to a network) you need a network adapter, also called a Network Interface Card. This adapter should be suitable for a network which you want to connect to. Wireless adapters are for wireless networks, wired adapters are for wired networks.A network connection.if its file sharing a local network over your lan, or if its a game, social networking site on the internet its the internet.A network card connnects to a router (wireless or LAN) the the router connects to other computers or a modem (intranet-telephone interface)
