Yes, if the alternator is functioning and you are not loading the charging circuit (using as much charge as the alternator is putting out so the battery receives nothing). Please note that "Idling" to charge the alternator normally does not work as the alternator is not turning fast enough to charge the battery, it only maintains the status quo for energy usage.
(no it uses the energy from the car battery not the energy made by the engine)Yes it does increase consumption because the battery has to be recharged by the power of the engine driving the alternator or the dynamo
More than likely your alternator is not keeping the battery recharged and needs replacing. Your battery light should be on if that is the case. If not it may be the battery is defective and will not take a charge. Drive to your nearest auto parts store where they will check the charging system of your vehicle for free in most cases.
Your alternator is probably faulty. This means your battery will not be getting recharged properly when driving. I had this for about a wwek and then found my battery was practically dead. I had to get a new alternator (non Peugeot ones on ebay are around £80) They are not too difficult to fit yourself , depend on you model.
This usually indicates that there's a problem with your alternator. The car battery works in such a way that it keeps getting recharged as you drive. The alternator is the component that ensures the battery is sufficiently recharged. So the battery light comes on if it senses that the battery is not being charged sufficiently - this might be accompanied by a foreign sound under the hood if indeed the alternator belt is broken for instance. You need to get the battery/alternator checked out at a mechanic or battery centre as soon as possible. If you continue driving the car, especially if you will be using headlights and other power-dependant functions, the power left in the battery is used up, with no recharging taking place, until it's completely dead. This might mean your car randomly switching off on you in the middle of the road as you are driving. Jump-starting won't help and the car will need to be towed. Best advice is to get it checked out immediately.

Depends if you have it professionally installed or not. If done right it should be hooked up to your cars battery power. You won't notice anything since the battery is constantly being recharged while driving. If it were to run on a regular battery it would last just as long as a portable dvd player which would be three to four hours.
