what are the 2 small wires on the + battery cable on 1997 riviera
2 plus ground
The plus is Positive + and it connects to the Red cable which connects to the starter.
Probably plus, minus and some type of sensor such as the temperature of the battery. (Rechargeable batteries are easily damaged if they get too hot during charging.)
You need a cheap voltmeter to check for voltages. The battery cable goes to the startwer relay and from there feeds to many other place Those wires have fuses inside the wire that can be blown if a jump start was reversed in the plus and minus direction.
Assuming a 350 engine, the starter is located on the passenger side of the engine, below the exhaust manifold. It is held in place with two bolts at the front, and one bolt securing a rear bracket. Disconnect both battery cables at the battery before beginning the job. The positive battery cable plus two more wires attach to the starter solenoid which is removed with the starter as one unit.
You have to have two battery jumper cables. One cable connects to the Bettle battery plus connector and the plus side of the battery in a (engine running) jumpstart car. The other cable connects to the jumpstart car negative battery connector and the bettle minus battery connector. It is important to let the donor car charge the Bettle battery for ten to fiftenn minutes because most jumper cables are poor quality and size to immediately supply all the current to the Bettle starter by themselves. Give the Bettle battery a while to charge and let it help the cranking process.
The plus side of the battery has a NIPPLE on it. The negative side of the battery is flat. Hope this helps
Connect the plus poles first, using the red cable. Then connect the negative terminal of the good battery to the negative terminal on the bad battery. Don't leave the bike switched on but start immediately.
disconnect both cables from the battery and remove the battery hold down bracket, remove battery, put new one in replace the bracket, connect positive (red cable [end will have plastic cover with red plus sign on it]} first than the other (negative) one. your done.
The battery is in the back of the car, under the storage compartment follr. You cantake this all apart if you want, but there is an easier way. Open the hood and look on the driver's side, along the edge of the opening, above the tire. YOu will see a black box, about 12" long and 5" wide, with "fuses" printed on it. On the side of this box is a small panel, about 4" by 1", with a plus sign on it. You can pop this up (it's hinged) and you will see a metal bolt sticking up This is the positive terminal. Hook the red jumper cable to this post, and hook the other end of the red cable up to the other car's battery positive post. Next to the big fuse box, you will see 3 small bolts with wires under them. You can hook the black cable end to these bolts. When you hook up the other end of the black cable, hook it to the other car's engine or body, not to the battery. You will make sparks when you hook up the last connection, and if you do it on the battery, there is a possibility the battery can explode. massvolvoman
Floppy Ribbon : The floppy cable has 34 wires. There are normally five connectors on the floppy interface cable, although sometimes there are only three. These are grouped into three "sets"; a single connector plus two pairs of two each (for a standard, five-connector cable) or three single connectors. IDE Ribbon : IDE cables consist of either 40 individual wires or 80 individual wires. Ultra ATA/66 or later devices need the 80 wire cables to operate efficiently. Most of these wires are used to transfer data between the motherboard and the drives.
