If you connect positive to positive and negative to negative you will have a 9V battery with twice the current capacity in milliampere hrs than a single batteries. The load then goes between positive and negative paralleled terminals. If you connect one negative of one battery to one positive of the other battery and put the load between the remaining negative and positive terminals you have created an 18 V battery with the same milliampere hr rating as a single battery. If you connect one negative to positive of other battery and the negative of that battery to the positive of the first battery then both batteries with quickly drain and get hot in the process. Contrary to folklore or urban lefends, they do not explode.
The positive + terminal is slightly larger.
Recharge: By having a positive charge applied to the positive contact of the battery, and by having a negative charge applied to the negative contact of the battery. Discharge: complete a circuit between both contacts of the battery.
the negative can make electricity but on the other hand if you have an uncharged battery you will get a equal, so if you have a positive you will get the opposite.
To get 24V from 2 12 V battery's Yo hook up the positive pole + of one of the battery's to the negative pole - of the other one. you will be left with a positive pole on each battery wit no connection on them The voltage between them is 24. If you want the battery to have the same voltage but have more amperage you connect positive to positive and negative to negative.
The positive battery cable will be going from the positive terminal of the battery over to the starter solenoid. The negative battery cable goes from the negative battery post to either a bolt on the generator upper bracket or the side of the engine block. Typically, the positive cable is red, and the negative is black, but people do all sorts of odd things to their cars, like have the wrong colored battery cables, so, go by how they are routed, not by what they look like.

Negative plates in the battery are naturally this dark color. A short between plates causes a discharge or equalization in potential which more or less is changing the positive plates and post to the color of the negative. The battery will become useless.

The positive cable is connected to the alternator and starter. The negative cable is connected to the chassis or engine ground. Positive is red and negative is black. The positive post is slightly larger than the negative post.
