I burnt a Revere copper bottom steamer pot on the stove and not sure if it's still safe to use healthwise
Rinsed the exterior, and the black stuff flaked off, then I tried to clean it up with salt and vinegar, some came off but there's still black marks in other areas like the curve.
Also the inside of the pan has black marks, which I'm unable to remove..... I used an SOS cleaning pad.
Will it be dangerous to my health to continue using this pan henceforth.
I'm absolutely gutted....... even though it was a vintage piece, it was the perfect pot for the small amounts I steam.
Old copper bottomed cooking utensils are safe to use as long as the insides are clean. Nothing new there. Copper is a superb conductor of heat, and these older pieces are fine items. Even better if they have been cared for. There are tips for care and maintenance in a number of places on the web. Bon appétit!

Yes, copper is still an element even if it reacts with oxygen to form copper oxide. The chemical properties of copper remain the same, but it forms a compound with oxygen in this reaction.
