No....they do not. The Microwave cooks from the inside out. In foods that are dense in some areas and thin in others, (potatoes) cook very unevenly, and are require to be rotated and turned over during cooking. In the advent of the "Turntable" in Microwaves, the cooking became more stable and even, but in the best of conditions, they still tend to cook unevenly.
