Where did you get that red dye always kills plants? I had a friend who grew some white flowers in red die and they just turned pink, they didn't die. But what they were in was not completely dye, it had water mixed in with it too.
I've been doing this experiment every year for a couple of years now; I'm pretty sure it can. But please do not take this as the genuine article. It's just, as far as I know, it sure ain't doing the little plants any good. (Red dye seems most effective, by the by.)
