Mussels take around 5 minutes to cook, usually less. They are done when they have opened, some may take longer some less time, if they do not open, it usually means they are dead and should not be served.

A simple recipe is chop one to two cloves of garlic, season and sautee briefly in some olive oil add mussels to the pan add a 1/2 cup white wine, bring to boil, cover and remove from heat when all mussels have opened. Serve with cooking liquid.
