When baking soda is mixed into a non-newtonian fluid mixture of corn starch and vinegar the volume of the fluid expands and the density decreases. The viscosity of the fluid in my test was reduced to about equivalent to marshmallow fluff (SCIENCE!). After the reaction settled the fluid was more viscous than before.

The more vinegar to baking soda, the better. I only tested up to 1 part baking soda/5 parts vinegar. Also, add the baking soda to the vinegar, not the other way around.
