The skills and competencies required for baking a cake are simple. They are the ability to read and follow the directions in a recipe. They also require one to be able to accurately measure the ingredients called for.

When I became a baker all I needed was a pulse and elementary school math skills. Today it is probably less because baking is done by factory, just add water, etc.
