Potholes are typically round due to the circular pattern of stress and pressure exerted by vehicle tires on the road surface. When water seeps into cracks and freezes, it expands, causing the pavement to break apart in a circular shape. Additionally, the natural erosion process tends to create rounded edges as the material is removed. This shape allows for better structural integrity as the forces are evenly distributed around the hole.

To safely drill holes in a terracotta pot, you can use a masonry drill bit and a power drill. Make sure to wear safety goggles and gloves to protect yourself from flying debris. Start by marking the spots where you want to drill the holes, then slowly drill through the terracotta pot using a steady hand and light pressure. It's important to go slowly to prevent cracking or breaking the pot. Once the holes are drilled, you can use them for drainage or to hang the pot.

Pot holes are cracks or weaknesses in roads. If there is a crack/crevice in the road then water may enter and freeze over night, expanding the crevice. As this process repeats and the road is used more then the pot hole will expand in size.
