I believe this is a stupid question. The Maoris are alike Aborigines as much as the Irish and the Asian. They way of life was almost completely different.

** To be fair the word aborigine means A member of the indigenous or earliest known population of a region; a native. So by that definition, Māori would be aborigine. The adaptation of the word to describe the indigenous people of Australia was done by Pākehā when they colonized them.
