Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias is credited with discovering the Cape of Storms (later renamed the Cape of Good Hope) in 1488. He was the first European to sail around the southern tip of Africa during his expedition to find a sea route to India.
Diaz was a Portuguese explorer who first discovered Cape Town and named it Cape of storms on his search for the route to India in 1487 only to turn back when his men mutinied.
He was a Portuguese explorer who discovered the "Cape Of Good Hope". But he originally named it the "Cape Of Storms", but it was renamed by John ll of Portugal. Dias never got through the "Cape Of Good Hope" though.
Portuguese Cape Verde ended in 1975.
