In surviving text Galahad only appears in the Quest of the Holy Grail, in the Post-Vulgate Quest of the Holy Grail, and in late works adapting parts of them.

In these works, Galahad, accompanied by Peceval, Bohort (Bors), and Perceval's sister, enters a mysterious ship of which Perceval's sisters alone knows the history. The ship was created by King Solomon, advised by his wife, to let his last descendant know that Solomon had forseen him in a dream. A bed, in this ship, in which Galahad lies, was made of wood from descendant plants of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil from the Garden of Eden. Also in this ship is the sword of King David which is intended for Galahad.

This is the ship on which, later, Galahad, Peceval, and Bohort take the grail to the mysterious land of Sarras in the East.
