The word "Caribbean" derives from the name of the Carib people, an indigenous group that inhabited parts of the Caribbean islands. The term was first recorded in the late 15th century by European explorers, who referred to the region as "Carib" or "Caribbean" in their writings. Over time, it came to encompass the entire region known for its islands and coastal areas in the Caribbean Sea.
Haiti is located in the Caribbean region, sharing the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic.
The Caribbean Sea is one of the most largest salt-water seas in the world covering a total 2,754,000 km2 (square kilometers) and is also the Deepest SEA not ocean at 7,686 meters bsl (below sea level(Altitude)).
