Aboriginal people are still living throughout Australia. They were the first people to live here before European settlement and, despite strong attempts by the Europeans to decimate the race and its culture, the Aboriginal and Torres Strai Islanders managed to survive regardless. Indigenous Australians currently make up about 2.4% of Australia's population of 22.5 million.
