The word "Eskimo" is no longer acceptable in many areas of the North. While it is still used in Alaska. The Inuit people of Greenland refer to themselves as "Greenlanders" or "Kalaallit". Inuit meaning "people," is used in most of Canada.
It's all about the environment. The far North, there is no wood, and very little vegetation. So, the Inuit built shelters from animal skins in summer, and snow in winter. They ate mostly meat - they can get nutrition from fat, and muktuk (narwhal blubber) is a favourite - they eat it like candy. Pure fat.
The Inuit appear to be very healthy with a diet almost devoid of plants. They appear to get enough Vitamin C from raw fish and organs of marine mammals, and muktuk, the skin of the beluga whale.
because the name eskimos means raw flesh etters
Eskimos, or Inuit, primarily rely on marine mammals and fish due to their Arctic environment. Common meats include seal, whale, and walrus, which provide essential nutrients and energy. They also hunt caribou and other land animals when available. Traditional diets emphasize the consumption of raw or minimally cooked meat to preserve nutrients.
Yes they do eat raw meat. Eskimo mean "Raw Meat Eaters"
this means eaters of raw meat
The Inuit will eat fish, and deer and seal meat, also caribou if available
Eskimos sometimes eat owl meat.
The word "Eskimo" is not acceptable in many areas of the North. It is still used in Alaska to refer to the state's Arctic peoples in general, whether or not they are Eskimos culturally or linguistically. For example, while the Yupik people of the west prefer to be called "Yup'ik", they do not generally object to being called "Eskimo", but they resent being called "Inuit". Many Canadian Inuit consider the name "Eskimo" to be derogatory.
Seal meat is the favourite meal for Inuit and polar bears alike, the Inuit people will use EVERY PART OF THE SEAL THEY HUNT, the oil for fuel, and the skin for clothing, theydo not hunt for sport but for their existence and way of life.
Sure you can if you starve in somewhere cold. But that would be gross to me.
