History taught me that Magelan met his unfortunate death in the hands of his enemy, named Lapu-Lapu leader of the Natives in the Island of Cebu in 1512. Years later the Spaniards went back to the same Island Cebu and brought back gifts from the King and Queen of Spain year 1521, Santo Nino and built the first Catholic church in the Island the Philippines. The Spanish then stayed there for almost four hundred years...375 years to be exact...1898. The Spanish empire sold the Philippines for 20 million dollars to the United States and thereafter the United States occupied the Philippines for 100 years (1898-1998}. The only country in the world that has been occupied by to power country for almost 500 years. The Philippines is more progressive economic wise then when the two power were leading that country.
