Don't think there's any way to tell, but probably not that many. Slaves were meant to work, to be productive. Torturing a slave, particularly to death, is pretty much the same as deliberately destroying a tool or a machine. Not a clever thing to do. Some were punished, sure. For running away, for not working hard enough, for not obeying fast enough. And so on. Which isn't quite the same thing.
