If you are expecting a big increase in fuel economy by changing the carb, you might be disappointed. Both types of carb have primary and secondary throats, which allow operation over a wide range of revolutions. You can get good mileage out of a 4 bbl by avoiding opening the secondaries when starting out or accelerating. In other words, keep your foot out of it.
