That depends on how active you are! I'll give you an answer for someone who works but doesn't do a great deal of exercise. You take your weight times 12. This gives you calories per day.

200 x 12 = 2400

Fat calories should make up no more than 30 percent of your daily calories. So:

2400 x .30 = 720

720 fat calories per day. If your cholesterol levels are high, cut back on fat calories, saturated fat grams and cholesterol in your food choices.

To take this a step further, you can calculate the grams:

720/9 (there are 9 calories in a gram of fat) = 80 grams of fat.

Only 10% should come from sat fat so stick to 8 total grams of sat fat.

If you want to lose weight, you can use this same formula to calculate what your intake needs to be to reach your goal. I currently weigh 244. I want to weigh 150. I calculated that I need to eat 1800 cals/day, 540 cals (60 grams) from fat and 6 grams sat fat. This should help me achieve my weight goal without starving! My cholesterol is high so I eat little sat fat and low cholesterol foods. I also am now exercising for at leas an hour daily. a

150 x 12 c=1800 x .30 = 540fat/9 =60g x .10 = 6g
