Look at overall calories first. For instance, if you're eatind 3,000 calories a day it's probably going to be hard for you to lose weight no matter what the amount of carbs is. Rather, control your overall calories first. There is some debate about how many of those calories should come from carbs, but if it's around 50%-60% you should be ok. Another consideration is the type of carb. Check out this link from Vanderbilt University for more information: http://vanderbiltowc.wellsource.com/dh/content.asp?ID=655 Let's say you need to eat 1800 calories a day. This is a reasonable estimate without knowing your specific situation. If 60% of that were carbs, that would translate to 1080 calories, or 270 grams. That would leave you with 360 calories (90 grams) of protein, and 360 calories (40 grams) of fat. All of this assumes you are exercising as well, trying to do some cardio most days of the week and strength training 2-3 days per week. It's a rough estimate, but I'm guessing that if you follow this formula you will be on the way to long term weight loss success.
First if your thinking of the Atkins Diet....get the book, Atkins New Diet Revolution, paperback is about $8.00. He recommends that to start getting into keitosis, the state in which the body burns it's own fat stores, you should not consume more than 20 grams per DAY!! But there is more to it than that. Please read it so that your not doing this blindly & get a REALLY good food based vitamin regimen going from yoursself, and drink water like it's your job:) i
Carbs are only one part of the human diet. The simple rule that you must obey is that if you take in fewer calories than you burn you will lose weight. If you only burn 250 calories a day with exercise, and you eat 300 calories of lettuce or celery you will put on weight as surely as if you eat 300 calories of chocolate cake. This is why you need to eat a balanced diet with a mixture of fruits, veggies, grains, and even carbs, but the total caloric intake from food must be less than you burn each day, otherwise the body has no alternative but to store the surplus calories as fat, even if those surplus calories come from spinach.
A woman of 250lbs presumably has enough health problems that you are making regular trips to the doctor, so I would suggest that you ask her to provide you with the name of a nutritionist who can develop a program of diet AND exercise that will burn more calories than you take in. If you do that, your body has no choice but to turn to its fat reserve for the extra fuel that it needs. ANd that is how you lose weight. If you only lose a pound a week, in two years you will be down to a much more manageable 150.
20 carbs a day 20 sugars a day but without your regular carb intake you should include a multivitamin and or B-12 pills because your body is not receiving its regular carb intake you will need a vitamin to ensure some type of energy meats and vegetables have the least carbs so that is what your diet will be for the next few months but please drink lots of water in a month you will see a difference

Because carbohydrates are non-essential there is no need to eat them at all. If you don't eat carbohydrates the body do not need to release insulin. But if your blood sugar is low and your body is unable to regulate it you should consider consuming small amounts of carbohydrates.
That is not possible to do safely. One to two pounds a week is a realistic goal. 10 lbs a week is NOT.
