It's not necessarily the miles that count ... it's the time in lots of cases. Some reports say to exercise at least 45 minutes.

Actually.... to lose a few pounds when running is to run at a good pace for 35 minutes and walk fast for 5 minutes to cool off. When you run 45 minutes or more you are no longer burning fat, you are increasing your cardio.
