First of all tour BMR or Base Metabolic Rate determines how many caloriesa day you need to consume to function normally with no weight gain or loss(usually around 1500-1800 per day for men and a little less for women, depending on body type, daily activity level, fitness level, etc. etc.). Secondly as you increase your exercise level your body will requiremore calories to maintain normal function. The key is to either decrease calories(slightly) or increase exercise to burn more of what you consume to GRADUALLY reduce your weight while increasing your fitness level. Also as you exercise regularly-20 to 30 min per day minimum- your metabolism will speed up thereby burning more calories. Try to spread out your meals so that you eat every 3-4 hours. Eat smaller portions than normal allowing your body to process the food more efficiently. Also keep your carbohydrate/protein ratio to about 30% carbs and the rest proteinsand vegetables etc. Good luck and remember to have FUN!
