This would include lard and dripping but would not of course include butter as no animals are slaughtered to produce it (although there are some ethical considerations here that may make you choose not to eat it). You should also be careful of some margarines as animal fats or fish oils can be added (particularly those claiming to have raised levels of omega 3) Best bet is to read the label and avoid any that say contains animal fat or fish oil.
