Cats typically eat several times a day at varied time intervals if possible. They also smell foods to make sure they are edible or likeable and sometimes check their surroundings prior to eating.
Wild cats (such as tigers, lions, panthers, bobcats, etc.) and feral cats (untamed domestic cats or barn cats) both show the same eating habits - they are strict carnivores that stalk and kill their prey. The larger cats, such as Siberian Tigers, may go days between meals but will gorge on dozens of pounds of meat when they catch prey. Feral domestic cats will generally eat every 24 hours or so. Both wild and feral cats cat survive off the water inside the bodies of their prey, but will drink water when it is available.
